Situational awareness for walking & riding
Hey! It’s right there.
Pick what you care about. Start a walk or a ride. Hey keeps watch while your phone stays in your pocket, and taps you on the shoulder when one of them is close.
Coffee, bookshops, lookouts, late-night ramen: the city you'd walk past.

Start a walk or ride
Hey looks around you as you go, out to a search radius you set, and lights up what it finds. Your path is drawn behind you.

Get a tap on the shoulder
When something crosses your alert distance, you get a banner, a notification, or a voice in your ear, once, then it stays quiet about that one for 12 hours.
Two ways to look
Places watches for the shops, food, sights and parks you choose, from Google’s map of the world. Nature watches for plants, animals and fungi that people have recorded nearby on iNaturalist, recently, this season, or ever. Each species alerts once, however many times it’s been seen.
Walk or ride
Walking, Hey looks about 400 m around you and speaks up at 60 m. Riding, it looks further and speaks up sooner. Both are yours to change.
Your path stays with you
No account. No server of ours. Your location goes only to the map provider, to ask what’s nearby, and your path, categories and alert history never leave your phone.

When you’re walking, Hey checks your position in short bursts, more often as something gets close and hardly at all when you stop. Forget to end a trip and it ends itself after an hour of standing still.
